Practical guide for travellers

Unaccompanied children

Children travelling alone

Air France

From 4 to 12 years of age

From the age of 4, children are allowed to travel alone as unaccompanied minor (UM) passengers until the age of 12. Unaccompanied passengers must present themselves to check-in at least 45 minutes (for domestic flights) or 1 hour (for international flights) before departure. From that point, the company takes responsibility for them throughout the journey and upon arrival they will be placed in the care of the person responsible for collecting them (it is imperative that the latter carry a piece of identification).
Each child travels with a UM bag, collected from the check-in desk at the departure airport, containing the air ticket, identity papers, parental authorisation and the identification form for the person responsible for collecting the child. If it is an international flight, the child must carry a passport or, in its absence, his national identity card, and this must be accompanied by authorisation to leave the country, signed by both parents (document to be obtained from your town hall).
This is a free service.

Between 12 and 18 years: Blue Planet

This service must be paid for at a rate of approximately 30 euros per journey for a domestic flight with no connections.
